Why do you think this guy didn't call me back?

i kinda "met" this guy off of a hotline this past sunday. we hit it off pretty good-the topics were interesting, i mean, he would call me-i'd call him, it was cool-we saw pictures of each other online, and he said he liked what he saw, in so many words. so we figured we'd hang on thursday, we met for ice cream, even though i told him we could just meet to see how each other in person, and go on our way-but he insisted on dinning with me. we talked for a little while afterwards before we got in our cars and left. i'll admit-i tried to get him to admit that he didn't have a good time and to leave it at that, but he didn't. i even tried to get him to admit it over the phone about 10mins after i left him but he said he had a good time, and that he'd call-but he never did. he usually calls when he says, but he didn't. my question is, why would he even bother sitting and eating with me, if he didn't really like me in the first place? why waste time like that? he saw me he could have left.
