Changed messenger version and no longer receive chime with each line sent by contact I miss it any suggestions

I desperately would appreciate anyone who can advise how to get the chime alert I used to receive with every line a contact sent to me throughout the whole conversation ..at the moment it is only on first contact . Have tried all settings ..what else ?it chimes if i sit another window on top but stops when i continue typing conversation ........please...I want it back
